For 1 film coated tablet:

• Olanzapine: 10 mg
• Excipients (Lactose, Tapioca starch, Avicel, Povidon, Magnesium stearate, Aerosil, HPMC, Talc, Titanium dioxide, PEG 6000, Quinoline yellow color) q.s: 1 tablet

• Olanxol (Olanzapin 10mg) is indicated for the acute treatment and maintenance treatment of schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders in which positive symptoms (such as hallucinations, delusions, thought disturbances, hostility, suspiciousness…), and/or negative symptoms (such as blunted effect, emotional and social withdrawal, poverty of speech) are prominent. Olanzapine is indicated for treatment of the symptoms of secondary emotions often associated with schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders. Olanzapine is indicated for maintaining the improved clinical condition in patients who responded the initial treatment.

Use as prescribed by doctor or recommended dose:

• The recommended starting dose for Olanzapine is 10 mg/day (1 Olanxol tablet), administered as a single daily dose without regard to meals. Daily dosage may subsequently be adjusted on the basis of individual clinical status within the range of 5-20 mg daily. Dose only increases 10 mg/24 hour higher than the routine dose, it means that the increased dose is 15 mg or higher for 24 hours, after appropriate clinical reassessment.
• Children: Olanzapine have not been studied in patients under 18 years of age.
• Elderly patients: It is not recommended. Usually a low starting dose of 5 mg/day should be considered for those patients 65 and over when clinical factors warrant.
• Patients with hepatic and/or renal impairment: A low starting dose of 5 mg should be considered. In case of moderate hepatic failure (cirrhosis type A or B Child-Pugh), recommended dose is 5 mg and caution should be taken when dose is increased.
• Female compared with male patients: The starting dose and normal dose range are not different.
• Non-smoking patients compared with smoking patients: The starting dose and normal dose range are not different.
• When more than one factor is present which might result in slower metabolism of Olanzapin (female gender, age, non-smoking status), consideration should be taken to use the low starting dose. Dose escalation, when indicated, should be conservative in such patients.
